Robbi,
How does one find purpose inside of one's self? Based on your beliefs do you think that there is good to be found in people that murder, steal and cheat? I just feel like there is so much evil in the world, how do you approach this and can you find good in everyone despite some of the horrible things they have done? Marissa
Yearning, desire, intuitive hunches, messages that come from others in a consistent or obvious manner are all ways that, when internalized, we can find our own special purpose. One client I had years ago owned his own construction business. He had great passion for his work and felt satisfaction and fulfillment every time he completed a project. When reviewing some of his childhood 8mm film his parents had taken years previous, he was tickled to find that in nearly all of the moments in which they'd captured him at play, he had a hammer, screwdriver or some other kind of tool for building and construction, in hand. As a child, a friend of mine who is a writer was found to always be making up stories to tell her younger siblings and later, in school, English, Creative Writing and Journalism became her favorite subjects and subjects at which she excelled.
Finding one's purpose is not magical and really isn't as difficult or mystical as some make it out to be. Clues for our purpose begin to amass as soon as we are born and continue throughout our lives until we make the connection and follow through on our desire and passion. The sense of inner knowing that you feel in the pit of your solar plexus, the constant draw in a certain direction and the joy you feel when you are doing what you love are all affirmations coming from your divine center, your soul connection to the universe.
I believe that all human being are born with a soul. The soul is that spark of divinity that the creative life-force energy, or God, created and sent forth to discover HIS/HER universe. That divine spark exists in all of creation, from the tiniest nano particle to the most complex molecule and therefore, is the "good" that can be found in all of humankind and life in fact. Because we were also born with "free will" or "free agency", this gives us the karmic responsibility for the life choices we make. No one is in charge of our choices but our selves. Even when we don't actively make a choice, we are still choosing not to make a choice.
Lots of things influence the choices we make in life. To name a few, genetics, brain chemistry, environmental conditions, philosophic outlook, religious beliefs, and physical, mental and spiritual health. All influence us. I believe that knowledge is power and that knowledge also abolishes fear. One of the greatest influences that can affect the choices of humankind is fear. Fear is most often a simple lack of knowledge and understanding.
While none of this excuses the murders, wars and horrendous atrocities in the world, it does explain that the responsibility and karma of these acts and choices belong to the perpetrators. No one gets off free! The Law of Cause & Effect is real, valid and operating constantly, consistently and with integrity. As the soul passes from one incarnation to another, the hope is that better choices will be made until the soul reaches spiritual salvation, thereby allowing it to move on to a higher plane of evolution.
God cannot and does not interfere with "free will". Whatever happens in our lives is the product of energy we accrued, either in a past life or presently. I believe, too, that in most cases, we experience the Law of Cause & Effect almost immediately.
Resolution for the horrors we read in the headlines would be first and foremost, knowledge. Secondly, the soul needs to adopt the great rule that we treat others the way we'd like to be treated. Making educated, heartfelt, intuitive, well thought out choices is key to happiness and fulfillment in life. I belong to a global prayer group that meets every other Tuesday via a telephone conference. We take a chosen subject for that hour long prayer focus and send out meditative light and energy to the world's hot spots. We also send light and energy to world leaders, envisioning wise decisions and choices. While we cannot interfere with anyone's right to choice, we can send light energy in the hopes the soul(s) will make life-affirming choices that benefit the uplifting of humanity and the evolution of the planet.
